What does Soteria mean?
In Greek mythology, Soteria (Greek: Σωτηρία) was the goddess or spirit of safety and salvation, deliverance, and preservation from harm. Soteria was also an epithet of the goddesses Persephone and Hecate, meaning deliverance and safety.

Where do you operate?
Our goal is for Soteria to become a network of communities who care for and help each other to survive and thrive. Right now we are operating in the Swillburg, Upper Monroe, Highland Park, Park Ave, South Wedge, and Pearl-Meigs-Monroe neighborhoods in Rochester, NY.

Who is eligible for help from Soteria?
Soteria is a network of neighbors helping neighbors. We’re here for anyone in our local community who is in need of the type of support we can provide.

How do I get help from Soteria?
If you’d like to reach out to the network for assistance, you can use the “Request Assistance” form on our contact page. You can also call us at (585) 208-5179 or DM us on Tik-Tok, Bluesky, or Instagram.

How do I become a member of the network?
If you’re interested in becoming a neighbor in our network, click the “Take Action” button on the top of this page and fill out our contact form. No one else has access to your information, and we will not share it with any third parties.

What kinds of assistance do you provide?
We are starting small with simple mutual-aid. Things like groceries, a home-cooked meal, a ride to the doctor, weeding or lawn-mowing, or children’s supplies are what we’re focused on for now. We hope to grow enough to expand services later on.
