Starting a non-profit costs a lot of money, we’ve discovered. The legal fees for the paperwork and the cost of printed materials to get the word out about the organization is not an insignificant amount. Unfortunately, like many in our community, our leadership team also lives paycheck to paycheck. So for now, until we can save for those legal fees, we are simply a group of neighbors hoping to get people together to help each other. And no, according to a lawyer we consulted with, we cannot take donations for that purpose.
